Animal Safehouse Transporter Volunteer Form

Transporters are a very crucial element to the success of Animal Safehouse Program. When a woman decides to leave her abuser, we get a call to see if we have both a place to keep her pet(s) and the means to get the pet(s) there. Sometimes she won't leave until this is verified.

Most of our initial transports begin in Palm Bay, FL where Serene Harbor provides shelter to abused women and children. Most of our fosters are in Brevard or Orange County. When it comes to initial transports, we often have a very short window of time to make things happen. If we can place and transport the animal immediately, the woman seeks shelter for herself. If not, in some cases, she stays behind and possibly gives her abuser "another chance."

The secondary aspect of transport is getting the pets back to their people once their persons have found permanent safety with pet-friendly housing. This could be anywhere. We have driven animals to Savannah, GA and even flown them on planes.

Whether you can help with initial transport, reuniting pets with owners or perhaps local vet visits, your assistance is another crucial aspect to the success of Animal Safehouse Program. Thanks in advance for going the distance.
